Sliders At The Burnt Truck

The Burnt Truck was one of the first food trucks I tried a few months ago when food trucks became all the craze. Since then, I have tried almost every food truck that has passed through Orange County, some good, some not so great.

Seeing that The Burnt Truck was nearby, I decided to give it a try again. I was really curious to see how it would compared to other food trucks that I have eaten at recently.

My plan this time was to order the same three sliders as before : cheeseburger slider, fried chicken slider, and Vietnamese pork slider. Unfortunately, they were not serving the Vietnamese pork, so I settled on the fried bologna slider instead.

As with before, the Fried Chicken Slider ($2.50) was my favorite . The country gravy on top the of the chicken, mixed with a garlic potato spread, is one of the most flavorful items you can find at any food truck. Same goes for the chicken. The breading is crunchy and not greasy at all. They do a really good job with this slider.

The Hamburger Slider ($2.50) is a little more plain. This Angus slider has cheese and a couple pieces of onion. I wish they added more onions and more of the avocado spread, which I honestly didn’t even taste. I could be biased though, I prefer a patty that has more of a charbroiled taste. This slider seemed to have more of a streamed flavor and texture. Maybe a little too basic for the price for a food truck.

Finally, with no Vietnamese pork slider, I ordered the Fried Bologna Slider ($2.50). It looked ok, but it was a little too salty for my liking. The added yellow mustard added some tang to the slider, but it was just too rich and salty. I would probably not order this one in the future.

One thing I did find strange with The Burnt Truck was how fast my food was ready once I ordered. It was no more than 45 seconds. Now I know that there wasn’t anyone else waiting, but it still feels like they had the food just hanging out waiting for someone to order. The sliders were a little cold. For how much money food trucks can be, I hope this is not something that happens commonly.

Even with a few small issues, The Burnt Truck is a great food truck for sliders at a great price of $2.50 a slider. I will definitely give it another try and I have even recommend this truck to my friends many times.
